DARK HORSE DANCE PROJECTS

Our mandate is:
-
To inspire fresh excitement and interest in contemporary dance work being produced in Ottawa.
-
To foster the careers of independent contemporary dancers and choreographers from Ottawa who require organised presentation platforms to publicly validate their work and receive feedback from their peers.
-
To nurture a self-sustaining, viable future for the Ottawa independent dance community by establishing an annual event (DHDP) that will springboard emerging artists into the professional world, as well as offer a much needed presentation opportunity to mid-career and established dance professionals.
-
To encourage innovation in our practice by giving members of the contemporary dance community an opportunity to present their work to the general public.
Dark Horse Dance Projects (DHDP) is a
not-for-profit arts platform designed to create performance opportunities for contemporary dancers and choreographers from the Ottawa region. Our objective is to give Ottawa based dance artists a yearly performance opportunity to work toward. DHDP will greatly benefit Ottawa’s dance community by hosting two evenings of dance work that will showcase over 20 local dance artists, local musicians and many new works and works in progress created specifically for these shows. We are funded by the Ontario Arts Council and the Community Foundation of Ottawa for our important work in nurturing the dance community in the region.
